new version

you are tired of all the shortcut and icon to start different game mod's ?
maybe also some shortcut don't work if you havn't install the game to the default directory ?
you don't know how to set the resource correct ?
you are tired always to switch your resource ?
you also start sometime Nile with the wrong MOD ?
you want watch how player moving in your map ?

here a small program to do that, all in one.
- dedect automaticly all installed mod's.
- show only your installed mod's
- no fixed icons or mod's, that mean also all coming mod's in the future will show up !
- simple click the icon (or right mouse button) to start your wanted mod.
- Start Nile or the Game with the correct MOD you want.
- NOVA START also check your correct Nile version !!
if you don't have the last official version, you can update Nile in the program with one click.
- easy create a Player Profile to watch Player Movement in Nile.

if you installed Nile not in the default Directory, you have to set one time the correct directory, the application will remember then.

maybe also interesting for people they don't know how to set in Nile the correct resource directory.
the application do that automaticly

I see that your program has a sg-mod icon but when I set up "Nova start" it just put in an X in mine ...How do I fix the icon? (IMG:http://nile.ecalpon.com/style_emoticons/default/shithappens.gif)

thats correct, normal now it show up a X. all mods with no icon or bad icon will show that X.
in the next sg-mod version it will show up correct (have spoken with luke).
sg-mod use a bmp file with .ico extention insteat of a real icon-file.

if you want it now already, simple overwrite the icon file in your sgmod folder.

again a New Version.
now also correct working on Vista
added a easy to create 'Player Profile' option, so you can watch in Nile all player movement !
it will record all player movement during the game play, so you can load it in Nile and watch.
good option for mapmarker to optimize your map !

(IMG:http://www.nlh.ecalpon.com/div/JO_START4.png)

Link

Player Profile mean, the game record all player movement in a file (sph file)
that file you can load into Nile to see the movement.

quick instruction how to use the player profile option:

- start the program
- choose Start Game
- check the checkbox on top (the SPH File Name window will pop up)
- type a name in the box or choose a map name from the combobox (all available maps)
(as best you pick the map name you want play, so it isn't confusable)
- press ok
- start the game by clicking a mod item as you know it.

- play a while a map (alone or host and play with more player)
- after finish the game, run nile
- load that map you played.
- go to Player Profile (in Nile) and press load
- load the sph file (remember you named it !)
- select a player in the list
- now you can move the timeline and you see the movement

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

a .SPH file will be created with the filename you entered. Each time the game/server cycles a new file will be created:
xxxx2.sph, xxxx3.sph, and so on.
To view the profile, run NILE. Open the file of the map you are profiling. in the Player Profile TAB you can load this file.

Do you work for novalogic or is Nova start made by novalogic?
I don't play any other mods except AW2 since it rocks and the maps are so much better and you can play the TR,ESC,AW2 and dfx maps so I guess I won't be needing the nova start program.

of course not lol, but automaticly to start a MOD or a program you need to know where its installed and thats not given.

For any of you who are wondering if there's any truth to these statements made by oldman and/or Novalogic about the AW2 not being approved by novalogic because they say it's not listed in the registry should take a look at this screenshot.
Some people just need to install the mod on their own pc and research before making such accusations about a mod team that have worked there tails off.

see screenshot of AW2 in the registry here

then clearly you dont need this program as you would only have one shortcut to worry about... so just drop it!

I think you don't understand what Oldman is trying to tell you...

The installation engine of AW2 doesn't install AW2 in the Novalogic folder, and the registry entry isn't linked to Novalogic either.
Oldmans program looks at the registry to see which mods are installed (and linked) to Novalogic. (installed in the novalogic folder)
AW2 installation path isn't linked as a Novalogic mod in the registry , therefore Starter doesn't see it...

It has never been said that AW2 isn't in the registry...EVERY Program you INSTALL ends up with a registry key...

Sometimes it's so hard to decipher what Oldman is saying in a post I guess and if that is the case I'm sorry for misreading it but on the other hand if someone was giving false accusations that could scare people away from a great gaming experience from some hard working, devoted people (without pay to do what they love) then I want people to know the truth.

I am not trying to stir anything up. Like I said above AW2 is the only mod I play because it supports maps from TC,ESC,DFX,AW2 so I won't need Nova Start program.
I have been ask to leave it be and I agree for the whole J.O. community this is another subject.

ok, with that registry entry (your picture) it would be possible to integrate AW2 in the program for the moment. to be honest I never searched last time for it. but I know at the begining it was no entry. AW1 was another link, now AW2 got this link, maybe AW2.1 or AW3 get another one again (its not a fixed link) -> thats what I mean with no rule. as soon as they change something, the program will no more find it, that would mean I have to change it after each update, thats not what it should be and what I like. no matter what other mod change or what other new mod is coming, the program will show it, requisite they follow some rules.
